Due to some of the negative reviews, I was reluctant to buy the S4000 camera. However, the good reviews and my old contact with Fuji (S7000 & A600), I decided to buy it. At first, I had some of the problems as old reviewers. After reading the manual thought about and using the Full self-operating mode with flash (for indoors), my photos became clear and bright. Unless you are skilled at using the manual modes, stick to Full Auto (Not Sr Auto) and flash for most indoor photos and this camera will not disappoint you.

I purchased this camera from Qvc (it was their extra value for that day) on their easy pay plan.

I began using this camera out of the box, on its auto settings indoors; it takes some very impressive photos. I was happy to see that my min pin didnt suffer the usual "I am a vicious red eyed dog" look. To compare the usefulness of the flash, I took photos in absolute darkness and then used the flash. It was great to see that the flash beyond doubt did its thing without the great wash out effect. The flash worked just as well in regular settings that required it.

I used the other features for the photos I am going to recap in this paragraph. I work in the structure behind the World Trade center so taking pictures of the improve from our office is priceless. On this camera, the pictures are the kind that every person who visits wishes they could take from this view. I had no light "bounce back" from the some floors of newly installed windows on the relaxation Tower (still under construction). The zoom highlight is so wonderful that I was able to zoom in on a worker cleaning out one of the reflecting pools. It was not a blurry "it could be anything" picture, you can clearly see him, the color of his skin, shirt, jeans and the hose he was using. I also have views of the sculpture of Liberty, the surrounding islands and New Jersey. I used the zoom on these photos, again, wonderful clear detailed photographs.

I'm still an amateur when it comes to using this camera but beyond doubt you don't need major brains to shape this guy out. There are some settings for babies, snow, beach, flowers, night etc. Every one of the pictures I took with each of these settings came out Very nice and clear with no doubt of what you just photo'd. You can take videos and also use the view finder. The camera is able to use any size Sd card (I have 16Gs in mine) and standard Aa batteries (this one needs four). My advice is get two sets of good rechargeable batteries. It is less expensive in the long run and you will all the time be ready to capture whatever you find interesting.

An study manual is included for those who may have trouble figuring out inevitable settings or icons. There are manual settings which are good for those "professionals" who are tired of dragging colse to their heavy telescopes (I see your types when you come to visit us in Nyc) colse to their necks but still want to get that capability shot.

In my opinion, this is a serious step up for whatever who still owns a pocket camera because of the capability of the zoom, panorama, pixels and other features that pocket cameras lack.

Hs20Exr First Look : Fujifilm FinePix HS20 16 MP Digital Camera with EXR BSI CMOS High Speed Sensor and Fujinon 30x Wide Angle Optical Zoom Lens

I have had this camera for several weeks with all sorts of shooting involved.

I have over 40 years caress as a photographer, both as an enthusiast and part-time professional. I don't know-it-all nor do I pertend too, I'll just give my impression as absolutely as I can. I purchased it as an all-around shoot all without having to pack a Dslr and lenses.

For an amateur, I'd say it would be quite easy to learn to get many good shots. For the intermediate user, it has a whole of features that will help you furnish excellent shots. For a more advanced photographer such as myself, all of the hand-operated controls and abilities to "replicate" Fuji's film qualities are much appreciated.

Overall, I find the quality of the construction to be among the best out there in terms of a "less than Dslr". The photos I have shot are very good given the size of the sensor. Color fertilization is outstanding, low light doing is just Ok, speed is good, highlight set is very, very good, and size/weight is moderate(a slight bigger than most but I am comfortable with it). If I want something smaller with me I'll stick with my Canon G12 and make do with a shorter zoom.

Video is not a consideration for me absolutely as I am regularly packing a small Sony or my Canon Xh A1s for that. I have only tried my Canon 5D Mkii once for video, great inherent but it's a still camera mainly. I will not add to the video reviews given by others.

My true surprise was the quality of the "Super-Macro" feature. It can focus extremely close, even at up to 105mm equiv. Setting, which provides a very diffuse background and dynamic subject. These are some of the best results exterior of my Nikon 200 Micro lens.

The Hs20 may not be the best at anything, but it is very good at many things and I am seeing send to a whole of trips this summer. For the absolutely leading stuff, the Dslrs will be used, but for just walking and hiking around rather unencumbered, I'm pretty sure this will work out just fine.

Very interesting... Not a gimmick! : Fujifilm FinePix Real 3D W3 Digital Camera with 3.5-Inch LCD

My great-grandfather made 3D pictures in the 1920ies. As a child I loved to look at these razor-sharp 2x2in sepia images though a wooden viewfinder. Other era came alive in front of my eyes. Approximately a century later, this camera finally allows me to produce the same magic digitally. The 3D result is astonishing on the built-in 3D Lcd screen, which can be viewed without extra glasses.

Overall, this is a well-engineered 3D camera that feels solid and looks good. Thanks to the built-in electronics, taking pictures is a breeze, though one needs to get used to the 'rules' for producing allowable headache-free 3D pictures. Basically, objects should not be too close, and foreground must be centered in the picture. Also, 3D only works in scenery mode. The FinePix includes a good tutorial to get started. Though stunning, the 3D Lcd viewfinder screen must be watched with some discretion, in order to avoid getting sick. Similarly, 3D movies should be panned very slowly, so that the brain can latch on to the visual illusion. If the brain misfires, this camera will unquestionably make you puke.

As much as I love the 3D effect, the 2D capability of this camera is poor. In fact, its the worst I have seen come out of digital camera ever in the past 10 years. The pictures are grainy and unsharp, especially in the edges. The camera has a few unique 2D modes thanks to the two lenses, but given the very poor capability that all doesn't matter much. Especially greens such as lawns do not sparkle and look unnatural.

Given the many happy reviews and the 10Mp specs of the camera, I was puzzled by the very disappointing photograph quality. So I did some faithful testing to get to the bottom of this, taking Approximately 100 pictures in assorted separate situations and light settings. First I went to BestBuy to compare my FinePix 3D to their display model. The 2D photograph capability turned out to be the same, so my camera does not have a manufacturing defect.

For every photograph I took with the FinePix 3D I also made a reference photograph with my phone (an iPhone 4). Since the phone camera is only 5Mp and has much smaller optics, one would expect good pictures from the FinePix. The opposite turned out to be the case, unfortunately. Put side-by-side on the computer monitor, the FinePix's pictures were noticeably less sharp and more grainy for both outside and inside under low-light conditions.

I also compared all inherent resolution, compression and Iso settings of the FinePix. Despite trying hard, I was not able to get sharper pictures out of the FinePix Real 3D. The main settings for jpg photograph files are 2Mp (1.3Mb size), 5Mp (2.1Mb), and 10 MegaPixels (4.1Mb). Put side-by-side on a big monitor, it is barely inherent to distinguish in the middle of the settings.

A thing to think is that 3D pictures and movies can only be watched on a (new) 3D Tv, or on the built-in screen. 3D pictures are stored in an uncommon format that is not supported by most photo software. Luckily, the FinePix also shop a regular .jpg photograph with the 3D one.

In summary: 3D is a great gimmick and conversation piece, but the current price level and the awful 2D photograph capability make it a itsybitsy hard to justify. If you like to own something unique and can spare the money, the Fujifilm real 3D is for you. For most everything else, the camera in your phone is better.

Update after a few months of use:
The 3D pictures continue to put a smile on my face, while the poor photograph capability continues to annoy. The 3D effects are hit-or-miss: it is hard to predict which pictures will come out well and which plainly do not work. Sometimes a few objects in the foreground add a great perspective, while in other similar shots it does not work at all. The remedy is plainly to take lots of shots and toss the ones that disappoint. Shots taken straight through a trees against low sunlight gave very nice effects in 3D.

I also noticed that some 3D shots work good on a big 3D Tv while others work good on the built-in screen. I guess it has to do with the way our eyes focus differently on a tiny screen. The only way I found to play 3D pictures on a big Tv screen is by connecting the camera to the Tv using an Hdmi cable. This is clumsy, since the cable is shorter than the viewing length and there is no way to group pictures. Also the camera runs on battery power, so it turns off quickly.

For the 3D effects it is very important to be aware which foreground and background objects are in the shot. In sharp California sunlight the viewfinder of the camera is near/totally invisible, which makes shooting quite a gamble. To saving this, one needs to take off sunglasses and use the left hand to put a itsybitsy shade on the Lcd screen.
